Orbiting Earth in the spaceship, I saw how beautiful our planet is. People, let us preserve and increase this beauty, not destroy it! (Yuri Gagarin)
Jurij Alekseevič Gagarini has been the first man to ever come back alive from an orbital flight. At the time, Russia lost many cosmonauts in the attempt to achieve it because of the ongoing space race with the US. When Gagarin successfully completed his mission, the American population became pretty uncomfortable at the idea of Russians freely flying above their heads. Nowadays it sounds silly but, by reading newspapers from back then, people was seriously worried about Spacekoms.
